THE LAKE IN TOLMIN BASIN
A long time ago there was a lake between Most ( Most na Soči) and Tolmin. Boats sailed over it and were harboured around it’s shores. At the high steep rocky edge of Pod Ključem (Under the Key), was once one of these harbours. There were golden hooks to moor the boats. The boats were locked to them with a golden key.
But the lake didn’t remain forever. A giant woman with green hair once lived at the village of Slap. At her home she kept a gigantic hoe. She took the hoe down to Most and dug an opening, so that the lake drained away.
